How we check what's on this site

Every fact here has a source and a date it was last checked. This page explains where the facts come from and where they fall short.

A source and a date for every fact

Each fact is kept with the address of the page it came from and the date it was checked. That goes for hours and addresses as much as rules, help lines and bus routes.

Before a fact goes up, a second check reopens its source. Anything the source doesn't say gets cut, even if it sounds right. When sources disagree and the question can't be settled, the fact stays off the page.

Each venue guide shows the date its details were last checked.

Where the facts come from

We go first to whoever is responsible for a fact.

  • Hours, addresses and phone numbers: each casino's own website.
  • Age, ID and advertising rules: Alberta's gaming law and the standards of Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
  • Help lines and self-exclusion: Recovery Alberta, 211 Alberta and GameSense, AGLC's responsible gambling program.
  • Buses, the LRT and fares: Edmonton Transit Service, through the City of Edmonton's website and open data.

Venue guides also mention what visitors tend to talk about, such as parking or a meal before a hockey game. Those themes come from public reviews. We retell them in our own words, with no stars, no scores and no quotes.

Hours change, and holidays are not covered

Hours on this site are the ones each casino publishes. Casinos can change them, and holiday hours are not covered at all. Before a holiday visit, check the casino's official site or call ahead.

Two details catch people out. Slots and tables can keep different hours. At PURE Casino Edmonton, the slots and poker room run 24 hours, and table games run from 10 AM to 3 AM.

Closing times after midnight need care too. When Friday's hours end at 3 AM, the doors close at 3 AM on Saturday morning.

Every clock on the site, the planner included, runs on Edmonton time wherever you open the page.

Where an answer is an estimate

Some answers are estimates, and the page labels them. Distances in the planner are measured in a straight line, not by road. Travel times on the late-night page are rough road estimates, not a promise that you'll arrive before closing.

What we leave out

We don't rate casinos or give them stars, and we never make up a visitor's opinion. A detail that can't be confirmed is left out rather than guessed. So a guide may say nothing about something you expected to find there.

If something looks wrong

The site has no contact form and no email address. If a detail here differs from what a casino publishes, go by the casino's own site, and call ahead when it matters.

Questions

Do you list holiday hours?

Holiday hours are not covered on this site. Check the casino's official site or call ahead before a holiday visit.

Why is the planner's distance shorter than my map app's?

The planner measures a straight line from the area you pick. Real roads rarely run straight, so the trip itself is longer.

Are links to casino websites paid?

Links to casinos' official sites are not paid. The site earns money from one link marked Ad on the home page, explained on How we make money.
